Tae Kwon Do

I still remember a long time ago, in the Tae Kwon Do (Korean matial art) school in Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Damansara (SKBD): there used to the youngest black belt in class. He started training when he was 4 and was a 1st dan (1st degree) black belt when he was 7. They nicknamed him "chili padi" because he was thin and dark. He was to represent Wilayah Persekutuan to Tae Kwon Do tournaments in Terengganu, but his parents refused to let him travel by himself at such a young age. He moved on to gain his 2nd dan black belt when he was 13 successfully, but also managed to gain 20kg successfully too. It din't stop him from his dreams in taking 3rd dan, but due to shortage of professional coaching, free time and other commitments such as his academics which eventually made him give up - storing his uniform in a drawer. This was 6 years ago.

Yesterday, he was browing through You Tube to release stress from his exam revision, and he came across a Tae Kwon Do video (as currently displayed in my blog). The video was the long awaited key to open the vault which was hidden away all these years. His blood began to boil; adrenaline began pumping through his body: it suddenly brought back all those memories from his training. He missed the feeling of pain as well as inflicting pain; the feeling of sweat and/or blood pouring down his face, the satisfaction of breaking planks, bricks and/or bones. He longed for the ecstacy of puting on that prestigious International Tae Kwon Do Federation (ITF) uniform and fasten the knot of his black belt once again.

He has decided. Over the summer when he returns home: it is time to revisit his master... Perhaps even try to achieve his long abandoned dream of achieving 3rd dan. The slumbering Chong "chili padi" Chung Fui has been awaken once again.
